This splendid Ardakan rug, originating from ancient Persia, is a magnificent example of traditional textile craftsmanship. Made with high-quality hand-carded wool and a sturdy cotton warp, it features a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter, ensuring a solid weave and a durable rug.
The design is dominated by a classic central medallion in dark blue and black, elegantly surrounded by stylized floral motifs that spread across the ruby-red field. The corner spandrels, shaped as quarter-medallions, echo the colors and details of the center, creating harmonious symmetry. The rich border, also in dark blue, is adorned with a sequence of palmettes and flowering vines, elegantly framing the entire composition.
The vibrant colors – the deep red of the field, the intense blue and black of the medallion and border, enriched with accents of ivory, light blue, and ochre – create a fascinating contrast that captivates the eye. The soft handle and thick pile (approximately 1 cm) contribute to making this rug not only a visual work of art but also an element of comfort and warmth for any setting, from classic to contemporary. An authentic treasure that carries with it the history and art of Persia.
