This magnificent Ardakan rug, originating from Persia, is a work of art that embodies the rich textile tradition of the region. Its design is dominated by an elegant central medallion, surrounded by elaborate floral motifs that extend across a vibrant red field.
The color palette is typical of fine Persian rugs: a deep terracotta red pairs beautifully with the navy blue of the border and medallion details, while accents of cream and light blue illuminate the design, providing depth and contrast. The finely detailed floral motifs create an all-over design that captures the eye.
Made with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, every knot of this rug testifies to the skill of the artisans. The density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm ensures a robust and detailed weave, while the approximate thickness of 1 cm guarantees a soft and durable texture. The presence of slight color variations, known as "abrash", is a distinctive feature of natural dyeing and adds further character to the rug.
An Ardakan is more than just a rug; it is a piece of history and culture that brings warmth and elegance to any environment.
