This magnificent example of a Tabriz rug, hailing from the renowned artisanal tradition of Persia, embodies the excellence and beauty of oriental craftsmanship. Tabriz rugs are celebrated for their fineness and the complexity of their designs.
The central motif is dominated by a geometric and floral medallion, in rich shades of blue and beige, radiating across a vibrant lacquer red field. This field is an explosion of stylized floral motifs, including palmettes, rosettes, and vine scrolls, arranged with great skill. The design is completed by an elaborate main border in night blue, adorned with a succession of vegetal motifs and small flowers, flanked by secondary frames in cream and red tones.
Crafted with hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, this rug features a high knot density, estimated between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, a testament to the skill of the master weavers. Its robust structure and compact pile ensure durability and a pleasant feel.
A Tabriz rug is a textile work of art that adds a touch of warmth and sophistication to any setting, imbuing an atmosphere of luxury and history.
