This magnificent Shiraz rug, hand-knotted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, is an authentic expression of Persian textile art. Originating from the Shiraz region of Persia, each piece embodies the history and culture of the Qashqai nomadic tribes who create them.
Characterized by a vibrant design, this rug features a central field dominated by three large, stacked rhomboid medallions in a striking red hue, outlined by deep black and accented with creamy white. The field is densely populated with stylized geometric motifs, including octagons, stars, and small zoomorphic or vegetal figures, typical of tribal iconography.
The color palette is rich and earthy, with a brilliant red merging with black, white, and touches of blue, green, and brown, creating a captivating visual contrast. The abrash, the natural variation in shade of vegetable-dyed wool, adds depth and character, making each rug a unique masterpiece.
The borders are elaborate and geometric, framing the main design and reflecting the artisans' mastery. The robust weave and knot density (160,000-200,000 knots/sqm) ensure exceptional durability, while the 1 cm thickness provides a pleasant softness underfoot. A Shiraz rug is not just a furnishing item, but a piece of history that brings warmth and an exotic touch to any room.
