This splendid rug, hand-knotted in the renowned Kashmir region of India, is a superb example of Oriental silk art. Made entirely from 100% silk, for both warp and knotting, it offers unparalleled luster and a velvety softness to the touch. Its dense knotting, ranging from 450,000 to 500,000 knots per square meter, testifies to exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail, with a thickness of approximately 0.8 cm.
The design evokes a paradisiacal garden, with a central field divided into six medallion-shaped panels, each hosting a sumptuous stylized tree of life. These depictions are rich in symbolism, representing fertility, growth, and the connection between heaven and earth. The richness of the floral details and the chromatic nuances of beige, green, terracotta, and light blue create an atmosphere of serene beauty. The elaborate border, also densely decorated with floral and vegetal motifs, harmoniously frames the central design. Although there is no obvious color variation (abrash), the silk itself offers a play of light and shadow that enhances the visual perception of the rug.
This rug is ideal for adding a touch of luxury and history to any environment. It is perfect as a living room rug or to enrich a bedroom, lending timeless elegance.
