This authentic Bidjar runner is a magnificent example of the ancient Persian textile tradition. Originating from the Bidjar region in Persia, it is renowned for its extraordinary robustness and knot density, earning it the moniker "iron carpet".
Made with excellent quality hand-carded wool on a sturdy cotton warp, this rug features a remarkable density of 400,000-450,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.4 cm, attesting to its exceptional durability and richness of detail. Each wool fiber is carefully selected and processed, contributing to its distinctive brilliance and long-lasting resistance.
Its captivating design is dominated by a succession of three large lozenge medallions, positioned along the central axis. Each medallion encloses an intricate stylized floral motif on a deep dark blue field. The background of the rug, between the medallions and on the sides, is filled with an all-over design of small rosettes and vegetal motifs, predominantly in terracotta red hues. The meticulously crafted borders frame the composition with an elegant succession of floral and geometric patterns, enriched by a delicate abrash that testifies to its handcrafted nature.
The color palette is vibrant and harmonious, with a predominance of terracotta red, dark blue, beige, cream, and touches of light blue and brown, creating a visually pleasing contrast. This Bidjar runner is ideal for adding elegance and character to hallways, entrances, or living spaces, combining aesthetic beauty with extraordinary wear resistance.
