From the Bidjar region of Persia comes this splendid runner, an authentic expression of Persian knotting art. Bidjar rugs are renowned for their extraordinary robustness and durability, often referred to as “iron rugs.” This quality is the result of an exceptionally dense and compact weave, executed with artisanal mastery.
Made with high-quality hand-carded wool on a sturdy cotton warp, this runner features a density ranging between 400,000 and 450,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 1.4 cm, characteristics that guarantee its exceptional wear resistance and longevity. The hand-carded wool contributes to a rich texture and a natural brilliance of colors.
The design is a tribute to Persian tradition, with a central field characterized by a rich floral and botanical motif, including elements like palmettes and stylized vines. While not a classic central medallion, it presents a harmonious composition that unfolds along the runner's axis. The delicate color nuances, such as dark blue, beige, soft pink, and touches of olive green, stand out against a warm terracotta background, creating a fascinating visual contrast. The abrash, subtle variations in tone due to the use of slightly different wool dye batches, adds a touch of authenticity and character, making each piece unique.
The intricate and finely detailed border elegantly frames the central field, reflecting the richness of the overall design. Perfect for hallways, entrances, or as a decorative element alongside a sofa, this Bidjar runner is not just a rug, but a work of art that will bring warmth, history, and a touch of exoticism to any room.
