This Tabriz 50 Raj Mahi rug is a magnificent example of Persian textile art, renowned for its excellent quality and intricate design. Originating from the historic city of Tabriz, Persia, this artifact is characterized by its complex weaving and harmonious colors.
The “Mahi,” or “fish” motif, is reinterpreted with a large ogival central medallion dominating the dark field, adorned with stylized floral motifs and ramages. The corners of the field echo the medallion's design, creating a perfect visual balance. The entire surface of the rug, including the elaborate border, is richly decorated with an all-over design that highlights the knotters' mastery.
Crafted with cork wool and silk on a cotton warp, it offers a soft feel and a distinctive sheen, typical of high-quality Tabriz rugs. The high knot density, between 600,000 and 700,000 knots/sqm, ensures extraordinary detail definition and exceptional durability. With a thickness of approximately 0.7 cm, this rug is both robust and elegant, ideal for adding a touch of classic sophistication to any room.
