This magnificent Kavir Kilim, hailing from the ancient weaving traditions of Persia, is a hand-woven work of art embodying the essence of nomadic craftsmanship. Made with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a robust and authentic weave. Its density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 0.4 cm attest to its quality and durability.
The kilim is characterized by a horizontal striped pattern that runs its entire length, creating a harmonious and natural visual effect. The predominant colors are shades of brown, ranging from earthy tones to intense chocolate, interspersed with lighter beige and cream bands. These warm, earthy hues are derived from natural dyes, and the "abrash" effect (color variations due to different dye baths and wool batches) adds unique depth and character to each individual stripe.
The peculiarity of this piece lies in its construction: it is composed of three distinct vertical panels, woven separately and then expertly joined together to form the total width. This traditional technique attests to its authenticity and manual craftsmanship, adding a touch of history and charm. The slight irregularities and the patina of time give the kilim a lived-in feel and timeless elegance, making it perfect for both classic and contemporary settings, bringing warmth and personality to any space, whether as a main rug or a runner.
